Bill Stackhouse
[[ Awhile back I received this email from John Mc Breen, the son of a Phu Bai vet... ]] read on:
Hello my name is John McBreen. I have enjoyed your web
site PHU BIA. It is the first one I have found that
mentions the 8th RRFS. I am hoping to find some info
about what my father did while he was in Vietnam.
I
never got to meet my father since I was put up for
adoption when I was young. I just recently found my
birth mother and also found my fathers mother. We had
a wonderful reunion.
Unfortunately my father passed
away 6 April 2000. My mother said he had hoped I
would search him out. I was one month too late.
My
father has a boonie hat that has 8th RRFS PHU BAI
71-72. He got his training in 69 at Ft. Manmouth N.J.
He has on his dress uniform the pin "Always Vigilant"
from the ASA. His name was William Stackhouse III. He
was from Norristown PA. Any info is greatly
appreaciated.
Thank you
[[ If you remember Bill, Email John ]]

![]() [[ Geeks with Guns! ]] When the Screaming Eagles left Phu Bai, the Lightning Fast Chicken Pluckers were obliged to take over perimeter guard. We somehow inherited these three gun trucks to aid in that task. From left to right: Executioner - Uncle Meat - Babysitter. |

![]() I found this in some things Rich Bort sent me.This photo has my dad, Bill Stackhouse, on the upper left, Morgan (Thor) Woodward and Jim Monarch bottom right. It could be part of the Delta team although at one time in 72 I'm told there were three mortar pits. ( Ramsey Longbothan ???) [WEBMASTERS NOTE:] I'm compiling a list from emails of the names of the guys who served on the mortar squad, all help much appreciated. I'm glad to see that the gun trucks have taken in so much interest. I am sending James Lyles a high rez scan of the trucks for his next book. I am going up to Pa in January to my grandmothers and getting all my dads slides. He has slides from Camp Eagle and of the 8th some USO shows and some of what looks like night firing? |
